Have a little faith

Matthew 14:28-31

“Lord if it’s you,” Peter answered him, “command me to come to you on the water.”

He said, “Come”.

And climbing out of the boat, Peter started walking on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the strength of the wind, he was afraid and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord save me.”

Immediately Jesus reached out his hand, caught hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”

I can imagine Jesus saying these same words to me in different instances in my own life.

How many times have I doubted Him and started to sink? How many times have I forgotten how He has always faithfully and consistently shown up for me? How can I so easily forget His Goodness in my life?

He has been nothing but faithful. I am the one with spiritual amnesia.

How easily I lose sight of all the times He has come through for me.

And still, every time I start to sink, He is there with a gentle smile and outstretched hand pulling me up and reminding me.

“I’ve never let you down before. I won’t start now. Daughter, have a little faith.”
